It was so nice to sit in the chapel with all the young men in their white shirts and ties and listen to the temple counsellor. He spoke of being aware of the actual people for whom we were doing the work. The boys were reverent and efficient on their service. All were baptized and confirmed for 5 people.
The boys seemed to love learning about this multi-use building that is a standard looking chapel with cultural hall and classrooms on two levels, a temple on another level with the baptistry and a very well attended genealogy center on the lower level. Several commented it was nice to know no matter where you go, the feeling is the same in the temple.
We exited the temple and walked down Broadway, just after an amazing downpour came through and lowered the temperature nicely for us.
We enjoyed walking through the several blocks that make up Times Square; quite a contrast from the temple with flashing advertisements several stories high.
We had a delicious and filling barbecue dinner at Dallas BBQ near the Amsterdam theater, then went to the Broadway show "Newsies". It was very well done. It was fun to see the boys spontaneously clapping at moving parts.
We are now back at the hotel in New Jersey. All are in bed and awaiting an early start as we journey to Philadelphia tomorrow. Please continue to send me requests for things you'd like to see or know about. Good night!
We are sure you exhausted, and recognize that typing a detailed memo of what was done today was going the extra mile. Thank you!
