How'd they get there?
They hiked cross the Lake.
And hiked!
And we met some others:
And a little more hiking
3/4 of 40,000 scouts
After this amazing opening meeting, the scouts went back to camp, grabbed lunch and went paddle boating. Harder to grab photos as we are spread out. I'll post what I can get from others. Some did scuba, some swam, some went to the shooting range.
While waiting for a patrol to prepare dinner, some if the boys set up a patch trading post
It is interesting how quickly this became the 'coolest thing to do' this evening simply because lots of other boys are doing it. We had a full day of activity and It probably helped a deal to have an activity where the boys could just sit in the shade for a bit on such a hot muggy day.
We had a taco dinner tonight followed by some free time and PMG to finish it off. Great answers on my troop tonight about "What makes a missionary great?" All participating!
Love the life lessons you wonderful leaders are teaching the boys. Thank you again for your time and sacrifice. I came across this thought that seems applicable to share with the boys:
ReplyDelete“Service is the rent we pay for our own room on earth.” We should know that the rent is due on a daily basis and know that the receipt is never stamped “paid in full,” because the rent, service in God’s kingdom, is again due today and due tomorrow.”
Hope you have a wonderful time at camp.

We can find Jake's BYU Blue Shoes anywhere... but with crowds that big it could be tough. Awesome first day. Thank you Bechtel Family for your generous donation. Thousands of boys and girls will benefit from your gift!
ReplyDeleteWow! Thank you once again for taking the time to post pictures and write details of all that you are doing and learning. We may not comment very often but that doesn't mean we aren't fully loving this and appreciating it all. Hope everyone is healthy and happy! Patrice Laurence
